Barca offer €25m for Celta frontman
 
Barcelona's search for a new frontman could see them sign Maxi Gomez from Celta Vigo, reports in Spain suggest.


The Catalans are searching for a striker to provide back-up to Luis Suarez and it appears the 22-year-old is their prime target.
 
According to Sport, Barca have offered €25 million (£21.5m) for the Uruguay international, who has a release clause of €50m (£43m).
 
The report suggests Celta could be willing to cash in on the 13-goal striker, but won't accept less than €40m (£35m) .

Varane not planning Madrid departure
 
Raphael Varane has committed his future to Real Madrid amid reports in Spain suggesting he was set to leave this summer.


The 25-year-old centre-back has long been admired by Manchester United and with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to reshape his squad, it was thought the Frenchman could be tempted by a switch to the Premier League.
 
But despite Real having their worst season since the turn of the century, Varane says he plans to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and bring the good times back to the club.
 
“I am going to stay here next year, I’m sure we will live some thrilling emotions once again,” Varane told Marca.
 
“We have to improve and [coach Zinedine] Zidane knows it. We have to regroup, there are things we need to change and that happens every time an era ends.”

Militants In Niger Delta Set To Declare Republic June 1

As killings in the Nigerian nation continues, a militant group, known as the Network of Niger Delta Republic Fighters, has threatened to declare a Niger Delta Republic on June 1, 2019 to register their displeasure. In a statement issued on Monday by the group, it said they were not happy with the situation in Nigeria just as the Director of Information of the group Maxwell Dan alleged discriminatory maltreatment of the people of the region by the President Buhari administration. The group among other things listed police invasion of the residence of a Niger Delta leader, Chief Edwin Clark, last year and current ordeal of the ex-Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Walter Onnoghen as part of their anger, adding that the selective maltreatment of Niger Delta people was on the increase.

Two killed in fresh Plateau attack

Two persons were killed by gunmen in a Thursday morning attack at Nding Suisut Village of Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau. DSP Terna Tyopev, the Police Public Relations Officer in Plateau, confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Jos that two persons were also injured in the attack . “ This morning at about 6 : 30 pm , we received a distress call that gunmen shot some persons at Nding Suisut Village of Barkin Ladi . “ Armed Police personnel were immediately dispatched to the area , but on arrival at the scene , four persons were seen with wounds from gunshots. “ We rushed them to the General Hospital in the locality where the doctor on duty confirmed two out of the four victims dead . “ The remaining two are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital and in a stable condition , ” he said .
