Saturday May 18 is a historic date for FC Barcelona. The men’s team have been crowned champions of Europe five times over the years. But now it’s the turn of the women to try to follow suit as they compete in the final of the UEFA Women’s Champions Leaguefor the very first time. But they’ll have to do it the hard way. Olympique Lyonnais are widely regarded as the strongest team in the continent, and are looking to win the title for the fourth time in a row (6.00pm CEST).
THE VENUE:-
Opened in 2013, the 22,000 capacity state-owned Ferencváros Stadion in Budapest is the home of 30-time winners of the Hungarian league Ferencvárosi TC. It is currently the largest stadium in the country, until work is complete on the new 68,000 capacity national stadium, the Puskás Aréna, later this year.
Over a thousand Barça fans are expected to be in the stadium to cheer on our girls!

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE HISTORY-
Since first appearing in the tournament in 2012/13, and going out to Arsenal 7-0 on aggregate in their first match, FC Barcelona have made steady progress in the competition. The following year, 2013/14, they made it to the quarter finals for the first time, losing to Wolfsburg of Germany. Two years later, they went one better by reaching the semi-finals, where they eventually fell to Paris Saint Germain, and two years after that and they’re into their first final!
In the last twelve years, Olympiquehave only twice failed to reach at least the semi-finals of this competition, and have reached seven finals, winning five of them including the last three. In fact, they have only lost two of their last 35 Champions League matches, and neither of those two defeats really mattered either as they still qualified on aggregate.

Militants In Niger Delta Set To Declare Republic June 1

As killings in the Nigerian nation continues, a militant group, known as the Network of Niger Delta Republic Fighters, has threatened to declare a Niger Delta Republic on June 1, 2019 to register their displeasure. In a statement issued on Monday by the group, it said they were not happy with the situation in Nigeria just as the Director of Information of the group Maxwell Dan alleged discriminatory maltreatment of the people of the region by the President Buhari administration. The group among other things listed police invasion of the residence of a Niger Delta leader, Chief Edwin Clark, last year and current ordeal of the ex-Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Walter Onnoghen as part of their anger, adding that the selective maltreatment of Niger Delta people was on the increase.

Two killed in fresh Plateau attack

Two persons were killed by gunmen in a Thursday morning attack at Nding Suisut Village of Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau. DSP Terna Tyopev, the Police Public Relations Officer in Plateau, confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Jos that two persons were also injured in the attack . “ This morning at about 6 : 30 pm , we received a distress call that gunmen shot some persons at Nding Suisut Village of Barkin Ladi . “ Armed Police personnel were immediately dispatched to the area , but on arrival at the scene , four persons were seen with wounds from gunshots. “ We rushed them to the General Hospital in the locality where the doctor on duty confirmed two out of the four victims dead . “ The remaining two are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital and in a stable condition , ” he said .
